Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood was conceived in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a theatre actor, writer and director, and her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. Her brothers who are older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who also have been actors. Evan and her brothers performed in the Theatre In The Park, Raleigh in the same place where her father is the director. After a long audition process and a five-year age gap, she was old when she had the opportunity to screen-test against Kirsten Dunst. She moved to Los Angeles with her mom and brother Ira in 1996 . She has seen success since acting in TV series, TV movies and feature films. She has appeared in Practical Magic (1998), starred in the comedic S1m0ne (2002) as the daughter of Al Pacino, and was then in Thirteen (2003) which starred Holly Hunter. Her role as Tracy in "Thirteen," which she performed in the film, earned her a nomination at the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress: Drama and a nomination from Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance By female actors in the Leading Role. In the year of her SAG nomination she was the youngest actress recognized in the Leading Role category. Her role in the role of Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011) brought her an Emmy nomination as well as an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe award. Her powerful performance as Stephanie Rourke's estranged child in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008) earned her acclaim. Sara Wood and Ira David Wood III are her parents. Ira David Wood III's younger sister. Trained in dance. She is passionate about dancing to sing, rollblade, and horseback ride. She has a black belt in tae kwon do. She's kept in touch with for the majority of her time in Once and Again (1999) and castmates: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
